Garden Designer And Mosaic Artist Uses Unusual Tiles To Help To Give Bush Rew Cottage In Brook A Unique Character And Style

Contemporary-Home-Garden-Pathway-Designs-and-MosaicsIt is now easier than ever before for people to get their hands on mosaic tiles of all kinds. By heading online, individuals can purchase these small objects in an array of colours, styles and materials. They can be used to create works of art and they are popular as a craft material in schools.

Meanwhile, some people like to use the tiles to decorate their homes. The objects can completely transform the look of both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Amazing

One woman who is familiar with the power of mosaics to enhance the look of properties is Yvonne Mathews. The garden designer and mosaic artist has used the items in the abode she shares with her husband Chris.

According to a report in the Isle of Wight County Press, Ms Matthews has created “amazing mosaics” to boost the appearance of Bush Rew Cottage. The home, which stands in three quarters of an acre of gardens, has bags of individual character and it among its most notable features are its lilac painted walls and Moroccan bathroom tiles.

The publication went on to state that the “stunning details” give the home a “fabulous style of its own” and it also “works wonderfully for family living”.

Quirky style

Commenting on the basic layout of the building, the news source revealed that it was designed by a London architect for himself and it features four en-suite double bedrooms, utility and laundry rooms, a large sitting room and a high-ceilinged kitchen/ diner with integrated appliances.

Ms Matthews has modernised the cottage in a “practical but quirky style, adding exquisite mosaics inside and out and imaginatively using colour to great effect”, the article added.

The garden

The garden contains various sections, including “big lawned” front gardens, a large tiled terrace, a deck and barbecue area and a less formal area with ponds. There is also a gravelled parking zone. Those with a passion for all things artistic may be particularly interested in the courtyard garden. This features Gaudi-inspired mosaics.

Tiles are also used in the master bedroom. As well as boasting six high windows and a large dressing room, this suite includes a shower room complete with dramatic black tiling.

Something to suit everyone

People may feel somewhat intimidated when reading about the use of tiles in such grand surroundings. However, mosaics can look fantastic in properties of all shapes and sizes. For the best results, people should think carefully about the overall look they are trying to create.

One of the great things about these small objects is the fact that they let homeowners really use their imaginations. They can play around with different colours, textures and designs until they have something they are completely happy with.

For inspiration, consumers can head online. There are lots of superb examples of mosaics for people to see in cyberspace. Of course, individuals don’t have to copy the designs and ideas they come across, but they can take the elements they like the most and incorporate them into their own creations.
