Commenting on the basic layout of the building, the news source revealed that it was designed by a London architect for himself and it features four en-suite double bedrooms, utility and laundry rooms, a large sitting room and a high-ceilinged kitchen/ diner with integrated appliances.
Ms Matthews has modernised the cottage in a “practical but quirky style, adding exquisite mosaics inside and out and imaginatively using colour to great effect”, the article added.
The garden
The garden contains various sections, including “big lawned” front gardens, a large tiled terrace, a deck and barbecue area and a less formal area with ponds. There is also a gravelled parking zone. Those with a passion for all things artistic may be particularly interested in the courtyard garden. This features Gaudi-inspired mosaics.
Tiles are also used in the master bedroom. As well as boasting six high windows and a large dressing room, this suite includes a shower room complete with dramatic black tiling.
