Filling An Unfurnished Room On A Budget

imagesFlat hunting can be a long and often stressful process, taking large amounts of time out of your day. You are having to go here there and everywhere, arranging to meet  estate agents and viewing properties just for you to know the second you walk in that it is not for you. So when you finally find the perfect property, it is understandable that you would grab it with both hands! You have found the perfect location and the perfect flat all for the perfect price, but what do you do if you then realise your perfect find comes totally unfurnished? Fear not, as there are several ways you can fill your flat to perfection without breaking your bank balance.

Seating

If sitting on the floor is not for you but you cannot afford to spend thousands on furniture then do not despair, you still have options. Your choices may depend on how many people you live with or how many are likely to come and visit. An armchair may do, whereas others will need a large sofa. Sofas, however, tend to not come cheap, especially if you want leather, which tends to be the most popular.

You can buy cheap leather suites from a vintage shop (although these can be just as expensive), friend or charity shop. If you prefer new, then look for leather sofas online, as you should be able to find cheaper ones that way.

Dining

If eating off your lap is not for you then table and chairs will need to be looked at also. If you really cannot afford a full set, why not consider a food tray or small side table you can place by the sofa? You should be able to purchase tables cheaper if you buy one that you have to put together and assemble yourself, rather than ready-assembled. Like the sofa, you should be able to find a cheaper table online or at a charity shop.

Sleeping

Unless you are happy to sleep on the floor, on a sofa or in a sleeping bag, a bed usually needs to be considered. You can buy one second-hand or online for a lower price, and some landlords will be happy to make a deal and include a bed in the price and final agreement. Decide if you need a single or double, as a single will save you money.

Moving home can be a stressful and expensive process, but should also be an exciting one. There are so many additional costs with moving, but furnishing your property doesn’t need to be painstakingly expensive. It can also help if you spread out the cost, see what you can live with and what you can wait for, try and get your bed included, then see if there are any cheap leather sofas for sale. For the first month, you may need to eat on your lap, while the next month treat yourself to a dining table. Managing the costs should assist you in kitting out your flat nicely, without leaving you penniless!
