Of all the rooms in your house, the kitchen is the one that people gravitate to the most. It’s also the one that most people take great pleasure in designing. Kitchens should of course be functional as well as attractive so it’s important they’re well designed.
There are a few things that should be taken into account during the design process which we’re going to layout in this article, helping you to get it right first time.
A Simple Update or Brand New?
Has your kitchen been recently renovated with a great deal of design work already poured into it? If the answer is yes, you likely just need to make a few tweaks here and there to improve it further.
If you have an older kitchen and want to start from scratch, the process is going to be much more involved but will give you the opportunity to build something perfect, from the ground up.
What you need to decide is whether you like the current layout of your kitchen. This is the one thing that isn’t easily changed so should form the basis of your design ideas.
Food for Thought
There are of course many other points for consideration which include;
- Figuring out how you move around and use the kitchen. Worktops and counters should always be in easy reach of your stove and refrigerator to make the overall cooking process more seamless.
- How much storage do you need? An endless number of cupboards and storage space is only useful if you know you’ll make use of it. If your entire utensil collection can be collated within one cupboard then you might want to think of other ways you could fill empty space.
- Will you be hosting or entertaining? This again ties into the layout of the kitchen. A seating area might be ideal if you frequently host parties or other gatherings, giving people ample space to sit down.
A simple update could include just a coat of paint and a few new appliances. This amount of work could be completed in a weekend and you could even DIY.
Anything more involved will require a kitchen designer who will be able to design and supply new fittings and fixtures.
Choose Your Bespoke Kitchen Designer
Once you’ve decided what you want, it’s time to approach a furniture supplier. They will be able to work with your requirements and your budget to provide you with something you will be proud of, built from the ground up. Harval bespoke furniture in Yorkshire is one such supplier, well versed in supplying custom made furniture for the home. Make sure that the supplier you do choose is amenable to working with you and is prepared to listen to your ideas. It is all too easy to end up with what your designer wants rather than what you want.
Soon enough, you’ll be enjoying the welcoming and comforting environment of your new kitchen which will hopefully provide a source of pleasure for years to come.
